ZoneUp (“we,” “us,” “our”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our mobile application (the “App”).
This Privacy Policy applies to the ZoneUp mobile application (the “App”), and any other related services or platforms provided by us. It governs the data collection, use, sharing, and protection practices related to your interaction with the App. This policy does not apply to third-party services or websites that you may access through the App. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of those third parties before sharing any personal information.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide to Us
When you register for an account or interact with the App, we collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us. This includes:
Personal Identification Information: Name, Date of Birth (to verify age eligibility), Username, Password, Mobile Number (verified via OTP).
Profile Information: Gender, Language, Interests
Public Profile & Community Information: Your username, user profile picture, and any community profile picture(s) you upload are public to all ZoneUp users. Posts, comments, and media shared to the ‘Nearby Feed’ are public and broadcasted to users in your vicinity.
2.2 Information We Collect Automatically
When you use the App, we may automatically collect certain information from your device:
Location Data: Your current location, if you grant us permission during onboarding.
Device Information: Information about your device, such as IP address, device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers.
Usage Information: Information about your interactions with the App, such as pages viewed, features used, and the frequency and duration of your activities.
Cookies and Similar Technologies: Information collected through cookies and other tracking technologies to understand your usage patterns.
Stickers and Third-Party Media (GIFs): Stickers and GIFs are served directly by third-party content providers (such as Giphy) to your device. These external assets are not stored on ZoneUp chat servers and are not encrypted. Viewing these assets transmits your device IP address directly to the third-party provider.
3. How We Use Your Information
Provide and Improve the App: Facilitate account creation, provide location-based services, and personalize your experience based on your preferences.
Communications: Send you updates, security alerts, and other information related to the App, with your explicit consent.
Analytics and Research: Understand and analyze usage trends and preferences to improve the App.
Legal and Security Purposes: Comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, and protect the rights, safety, and property of ZoneUp, our users, and others.
4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:
Service Providers: Third-party vendors who provide services such as data hosting, OTP verification, analytics, and marketing assistance. These service providers are bound by strict contractual obligations to keep your information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.
Other Users: Depending on your profile settings and interactions within the App, some of your profile information (such as your username and interests) may be visible to other users.
Legal Requirements: If required by law or in response to a valid legal request from a law enforcement agency or regulatory authority.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. However, no internet-based service can be 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
ZoneUp implements end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for private chat messages. In the normal course of operation, only the sender and recipient can decrypt and view message content. While ZoneUp exercises rigorous security safeguards, no system is immune to technical bugs, zero-day vulnerabilities, or OS-level security breaches; ZoneUp disclaims liability for unforeseen technical failures affecting encryption integrity.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide you with the App's services. If you choose to delete your account:
• Immediate Action: Your profile and data will be immediately removed from public view.
• 30-Day Recovery Period: Your data will be temporarily retained in our secure backups for 30 days to facilitate account recovery in case you change your mind.
• Permanent Deletion: After 30 days, your data will be permanently and irreversibly purged from our servers, except as required to comply with our legal obligations.
Chat media—including photos, videos, voice recordings, and files sent in chats—is retained on ZoneUp servers for a maximum Time-To-Live (TTL) duration of one (1) year, after which it is permanently purged. Users are advised to save important media to local storage.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Access and Update: You can access and update your profile information directly within the App's settings.
Location Data: You can withdraw your consent for location tracking at any time through your device settings.
Account Deletion: You can request the permanent deletion of your account through the Settings page inside the App.
